Connecting With Us
Lift Winton has the benefit of a key business volunteer who works with us on a strategic level, encouraging the development of our careers programme and connecting us to the business community across the county. This role is recognised nationally as an Enterprise Adviser (EA).
Our current EA is Philip Richards, and he would be delighted to have a chat with you, especially if you could potentially offer work experience opportunities for our students, inspire them about future career possibilities in your organisations, or encourage them to develop the skills and mindsets to prepare them for the world of work.

Ways Employers can support us:
· Connect with one of our Careers Champions in a specific subject area
· Be part of our Mock interviews with Year 10 or 11 students and help them structure their CVs
· Get involved in extracurricular clubs and activities
· Give an inspiring talk based on your industry or job role
· Provide a coaching/mentoring service through a structured programme
· Run a hands-on workshop with activities relating to your area of expertise
· Be part of our discussions about pathways after school, eg apprenticeships
· Help champion specific issues and challenge barriers in the workplace around gender
stereotyping, disability etc
· Help bring a subject lesson to life by linking it to your industry
· Offer a work experience placement for students at your business premises
· Become an ambassador supporting employment routes for young people with special educational
needs and disabilities and offer a work experience placement that is co-supported by the school

By getting involved you will not only be supporting future workforce development and helping to broaden the minds of the young people but you will also be developing new skills for your staff, forging community links and building a positive profile for your company.
We will support you throughout your visit to us at Winton to ensure we maximise the use of your valuable time.
Our careers leader is Mr Andrew Head and he will:
· Be your main point of contact for all enquiries
· Organise pre-meets/discussions/information for activities you sing up to
· Provide you details of the local arrangements including parking, facilities and our safeguarding policy.
· Conduct a short evaluation with you to ensure we are getting things right.
· With your permission add you to our network and keep you up to date with future activities.

Earn while you learn!
Apprenticeships allow you to earn a wage of at least £4.30 per hour if you are between 16-18 (or if you’re in the first year of your apprenticeship).
Apprenticeships lead towards nationally certified qualifications. The higher the qualifications, and the more experience you gain as an apprentice, the more qualified you will become for the job you want.
An apprentice, will usually experience:
4 days a week of work experience
1 day a week studying towards your qualification
Apprenticeships usually last between one and three years.

Prepare for the working world!
Traineeships give you a taste of the working world, alongside careers advice and guidance.
As a trainee you will be developing new skills and learning how to apply them with hands on industry experience.
If you don’t have Maths and English at GCSE, then a traineeship can help you gain these qualifications.
You will also have help with interview techniques, and CV advice.
A traineeship usually lasts between 8 weeks and 6 months and, are usually unpaid, however you may be able to access financial support like a 16-19 bursary fund (click here to see if you would be eligible).
